Classes

 

Butterfly Yarns Drop-In

Come start a project of your choosing or work on a current project. What a great way to get those presents done in time for the holidays!! One of our wonderful teachers (Debbie, Kim or Mary) will always be on hand to help with reading patterns, fixing mistakes and any other knitting dilemma. This is not the time to learn a completely new skill.... it is the time to get help. 

 

Cost:  $10 (or free with purchase of $10+ on the same day)

Sundays: 3:30 PM - 5 PM

 

Thursday Knitting Group

We are going to start a knitting/crochet group during the day on Thursdays from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM.  This is going to be a time to come in and hang out with others and knit or crochet.  We can not guarantee there will be a teacher available during this time so it is not a class... just an opportunity to hang out and knit.  No need to call ahead just come on in.  

Cost: FREE 

Thursdays: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Master's Knitters Motivation Night

Anyone working on The Knitting Guild of America's Master Knitter program is welcome to join us once a month. We help to motivate each other along this process. This is not a class. You must already be registered with The Knitting Guild of America and signed up for the appropriate course.

Cost: Free 

Fridays: 6 PM - 8 PM January 20

 

Beginner Knitting

Do you want to learn how to knit? 

Take this two week course and learn how to cast on, knit, purl and cast off.  After finishing this course, you will be ready to start your first project.

Cost:  $35

Materials:  worsted weight yarn (nothing fuzzy!) and size 8 or 9 needles

Saturdays: 2:30 PM - 4 PM January 7 & 14

 

Tuesday Help Nights with Debbie & Kim

Are you a beginner who wants to start a new project? Or maybe you are an experienced knitter that just wants some time to knit and get those holiday gifts finished! You can learn a new technique (maybe the magic loop, cables or fair-isle), finish projects you already have started, or get help fixing mistakes. Anyone is welcome to come in to our Tuesday Help Nights.

Please call ahead of time to let us know you are coming. We will be limiting this to 11 people each week. You can sign up for 1 week... or all 4.

Cost: $15 for 1 class, $28 for 2 weeks, $42 for 3 weeks, $50 for 4 weeks

Prerequisite: Beginner Knitting Skills

Tuesdays: 6:30 PM - 8 PM FULL We will post dates when spaces become available

 

Great American Aran Afghan

We will be meeting once a month to work on one square from the Great American Afghan book. These cable patterns are beautiful and challenging! We will start of with the easier patterns and work our way up to the more difficult patterns. You need to preregister for each class because we will have an 11 person limit. If you would like to work your entire afghan in one color please speak to Kim before December 28th!

Cost: $10 per class

Prerequisite: Advanced Beginner Knitting Skills

Sundays: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM February 12 (pg 4-5), March 11

 

Crochet 2

Do you know how to do the basic crochet stitched but are unsure where to go from there? Do crochet patterns scare you? Then this is the class for you. You can work on any pattern you'd like. If you need some suggestions come on in and we'll help you find a pattern!

Cost: $45

Prerequisite: Beginner Crochet Skills

Sundays: 5:30 PM - 7 PM January 22, 29 & February 5

 

Beginner 2 Knitting

Do you know how to knit and purl? But you're not quite sure what to make after scarfs. This is the class for you. We will help you pick your next pattern and help you figure out how to read it! Based on your current level of knitting you can make either a hat, baby sweater, cowl or another pattern of your choosing. Class is limited to 7 people.

Cost: $45

Prerequisite: Beginner Knitting Skills

Saturdays: 3 PM - 4:30 PM February 4, 11 & 18

Fair-Isle Finger Gloves

This is a perfect pattern for learning how to do fair-isle. You will learn how to follow a chart, use magic loop ( or double pointed needles), use both hands to do fair-isle and much more! We will be making the Muckle Mitts during this class.

Cost: $35

Prerequisite: Beginner Knitting Skills

Sundays: 1 PM - 3:00 PM February 5 & 12

Socks

Socks are one of our favorite things to knit at Butterfly Yarns. They are small, portable and use fantastic yarn. Come learn how to knit socks either on double pointed needles of magic loop (your choice). If you've done socks before and want try something a little more intricate- that's alright too!

Cost: $55

Prerequisite: Intermediate Knitting Skills

Sundays: 1 PM - 3:00 PM February 19, 26, March 4 & 11

 

 

 

Workshops

Fixing Mistakes

This is a class that will take the fear out of knitting. Learn how to pick up a dropped stitch, fix a twisted stitch, pull out multiple rows without dropping stitches, change a knit to a purl and more! This class is limited to 5 students, so sign up quickly! Come to class with 2 4" squares still on the needles, one in stockinette and one in garter stitch. Please bring a crochet hook and pen & paper for notes.

Cost: $30

Class Size: Group Classes have a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 students unless stated otherwise.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION - You may register for a class in person, by mail or over the phone.  The class fee must be paid in full to enroll in a class. You may pay by check, cash or credit card.  If enrolling by mail make sure to list the class name and date as well as your phone number.

CANCELLATION POLICY - Classes are fully refundable until seven days before the class.  Butterfly Yarns reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment, bad weather or instructor illness.  In the event of cancellation on our part, you will receive a full refund. Classes are non-transferable.
